Abstract
In recent years the specializations of cloud microphysics, cloud dynamics, laboratory and theoretical cloud modeling, and radar meteorology have become so interrelated that they can hardly be considered as separate disciplines. By combined use of these techniques and tools, the cloud physicist has made significant advances in our understanding of the complex physics and dynamics of clouds. The purpose of this report is to review major advances in laboratory and field observations of clouds, cloud modeling, and radar meteorology.

The atmospheric aerosol system: An overview

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors discuss recent work on atmospheric aerosols that illustrates the complex nature of the aerosol chemical and physical system and suggest strategies for future research, and conclude that man has had a great impact on the global budgets of certain species, especially sulfur and nitrogen, that play a dominant role in the atmospheric aerosol system.

General circulation experiments with the primitive equations

TL;DR: In this article, an extended period numerical integration of a baroclinic primitive equation model has been made for the simulation and the study of the dynamics of the atmosphere's general circulation, and the solution corresponding to external gravitational propagation is filtered by requiring the vertically integrated divergence to vanish identically.

Interaction of a Cumulus Cloud Ensemble with the Large-Scale Environment, Part I

TL;DR: In this paper, large-scale modification of the environment by cumulus clouds is discussed in terms of entrainment, detraining, evaporation, and subsidence, and budget equations for mass, static energy, water vapor, and liquid water are considered.

Production of secondary ice particles during the riming process

TL;DR: In this paper, the concentrations of ice particles in natural clouds and their ability to predict them from measurements made, for example in laboratory cloud chambers, at the same temperature were investigated, and the results showed that ice crystals play a vital part in the formation of precipitation.

Fall speeds and masses of solid precipitation particles

TL;DR: In this paper, the fall speeds and masses of a large number of different types of solid precipitation particles were measured and the effects of riming and aggregation on the fall speed and mass were investigated.

A Three-Dimensional Numerical Model of the Sea Breezes Over South Florida

TL;DR: In this paper, an eight-level three-dimensional primitive equation model was used to describe the initiation and evolution of sea-breeze convergence patterns over south Florida as a function of the surface heat and momentum fluxes and of the large-scale synoptic forcing.
