TLDR
The confined waters of BWM showed higher sensitivity to contaminant input loadings than FWM due to the lack of continuous water outputs, and the importance of confinement and its effect on pollutant concentrations must be borne in mind to achieve correct management of Mediterranean wetlands.

Development and test of the Export Coefficient Model in the Upper Reach of the Yangtze River

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors improved the export coefficient model by introducing the precipitation impact factor, α, and terrain impact factor β, which were defined to characterize the nonuniformities of precipitation and terrain, respectively.

Pesticides, Environmental Pollution, and Health

TL;DR: In this article, the authors have explained the nature of pesticides and their history, classification, risks, and effects on health and the environment, and the importance of agricultural pesticides for developing countries is undeniable.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of phosphorus on copper sensitivity of fluvial periphyton: the role of chemical, physiological and community-related factors

TL;DR: Results showed that differences in copper sensitivity of natural periphyton communities followed the gradient of nutrient concentration found in the field, indicating that the ecological effects of metal pollution in rivers might be obscured by eutrophication.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ferrous ions promoted aerobic simazine degradation with Fe@Fe2O3 core-shell nanowires

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of extra ferrous ions on the aerobic simazine degradation with Fe@Fe2O3 core-shell nanowires at circumneutral pH was investigated.

Nonpoint pollution of surface waters with phosphorus and nitrogen

TL;DR: In this article, a review of the available scientific information, they are confident that nonpoint pollution of surface waters with P and N could be reduced by reducing surplus nutrient flows in agricultural systems and processes, reducing agricultural and urban runoff by diverse methods, and reducing N emissions from fossil fuel burning, but rates of recovery are highly variable among water bodies.
