Complexity reduction in state observation of stochastic automata
TLDR
For stochastic automata it is impossible to perform this reduction in such a way that the observation result for the remaining states remains unchanged, and the state observation algorithm applied to the reduced automaton does not generate the same probability distribution as for the original automaton.About:

Combining operations documentation and data to diagnose procedure execution
TL;DR: This work proposes a fast approach of detecting procedure executions and action sets associated with procedure steps and describes methods for representing documented procedures and validating the procedures against log files of the control system.

Diagnosis and reconfigurable control of discrete-event systems
TL;DR: This chapter concerns dynamical systems whose discrete changes of the input, state or output are described by a stochastic automaton and shows how a supervisor can be reconfigured after a fault has been detected.

Diagnosis and Fault-Tolerant Control
TL;DR: In this paper, model-based analysis and design methods for fault diagnosis and fault-tolerant control are presented, where the propagation of the fault through the process, test fault detectability and reveal redundancies that can be used to ensure fault tolerance.

Fault diagnosis in discrete-event systems: framework and model reduction
TL;DR: A state-based approach for online passive fault diagnosis in systems modeled as finite-state automata is presented, and necessary and sufficient conditions for failure diagnosability are derived.

State Observation and Diagnosis of Discrete-Event SystemsDescribed by Stochastic Automata
J. Lunze,J. Schröder +1 more
TL;DR: The problems of state observation and diagnosis are solved for discrete–eventsystems, which are described by stochastic automata, and the diagnostic problem is shown to be, in principle, an observation problem.
