TLDR
In this article , the authors summarize the latest insights into the complexity and interplay of the counter-regulatory RAS axis in hypertension, highlight the pathophysiological functions of ACE2, a multifunctional molecule linking hypertension and COVID-19, and discuss the function and therapeutic potential of targeting this counterregulatory rAS axis to prevent and treat hypertension in the context of the current COVID19 pandemic.

Renin-Angiotensin System and Sex Differences in COVID-19: A Critical Assessment

TL;DR: In this paper , a critical evaluation of the evidence for an activated RAS in COVID-19 subjects and whether this system contributes to the greater severity of severe acute respiratory syndrome-related coronavirus-2 infection in males as compared with females.

UDCA, a novel strategy for preventing SARS-CoV-2 infection via FXR-mediated ACE2 downregulation

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors used convalescent plasma (CP) to prevent SARS-CoV-2 infection by reducing ACE2 expression and showed that high-titer CP and mAbs may be more efficient for immunocompromised patients with B-cell depletion.

The Renin–Angiotensin System in COVID-19: Can Long COVID Be Predicted?

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors used labeled bradykinin (BK) as a reporter peptide, which is a target of both carboxypeptidase N (CPN, KKS member) and excessive angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE, RAS member) activity in the sera of both hospitalized COVID-19 patients and a subgroup of convalescent patients.

Clinical course and risk factors for mortality of adult inpatients with COVID-19 in Wuhan, China: a retrospective cohort study.

TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors used univariable and multivariable logistic regression methods to explore the risk factors associated with in-hospital death, including older age, high SOFA score and d-dimer greater than 1 μg/mL.

A pneumonia outbreak associated with a new coronavirus of probable bat origin

TL;DR: Identification and characterization of a new coronavirus (2019-nCoV), which caused an epidemic of acute respiratory syndrome in humans in Wuhan, China, and it is shown that this virus belongs to the species of SARSr-CoV, indicates that the virus is related to a bat coronav virus.

Epidemiological and clinical characteristics of 99 cases of 2019 novel coronavirus pneumonia in Wuhan, China: a descriptive study

TL;DR: Characteristics of patients who died were in line with the MuLBSTA score, an early warning model for predicting mortality in viral pneumonia, and further investigation is needed to explore the applicability of the Mu LBSTA scores in predicting the risk of mortality in 2019-nCoV infection.
