Facile solution synthesis of α-FeF3·3H2O nanowires and their conversion to α-Fe2O3 nanowires for photoelectrochemical application.

TL;DR: The ease and scalability of the conversion from hydrated fluoride NWs to oxide NWs suggest a potentially versatile and low-cost strategy to make NWs of other useful iron-based compounds that may enable their large-scale renewable energy applications.

Predicting the Size Distribution in Crystallization of TSPP:TMPyP Binary Porphyrin Nanostructures in a Batch Desupersaturation Experiment

TL;DR: In this article, a model for the growth of binary porphyrin nanostructures was developed to simulate all the major kinetic and thermodynamic steps of crystallization including homogeneization.
Journal ArticleDOI

Anionic ordering and thermal properties of FeF3·3H2O

TL;DR: A clear understanding is provided of the structure and thermal properties of FeF3·3H2O, a material that can potentially bridge the recycling of pickling sludge from the steel industry by preparing battery electrodes.

Crystal Growth Kinetics of Piracetam Polymorphs in Ethanol and Isopropanol

TL;DR: In this paper, the crystal growth kinetics of two different polymorphs of Piracetam have been investigated in ethanol and isopropanol, and the growth rates ranged 10-7-10-8 m/s, the growth rate order was clearly higher than unity, and activation energies are in the range 39-66 kJ/mol for all the systems studied suggesting surface integration control.

Recycling of waste pickle acid by precipitation of metal fluoride hydrates

TL;DR: Stainless steel is pickled in mixed acid solutions (1-3 M HNO3 and 0.5-4 M HF) usually neutralized with lime, and in Sweden about 18,000 tons/yr of metal hydroxide sludge is...

The Growth of Crystals and the Equilibrium Structure of their Surfaces

TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that the rate of growth of a surface containing dislocations is proportional to the square of the supersaturation for low values and to the first power for high values of the latter.
Journal ArticleDOI

Electrolyte crystal growth mechanisms

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the rate of integration at a kink is of the order of one thousandth of the speed of dehydration of the cation, which is due to the activation energy of diffusion, as an ion, in order to integrate, must dehydrate and make a diffusional jump.
Journal ArticleDOI

Reactivity at the mineral-water interface: dissolution and inhibition

TL;DR: In this paper, it is shown that dissolution can be explained in terms of a ligand exchange process; simplified rate laws for proton and ligand-protonated dissolution rates, being related to surface bound protons and ligands, respectively, can be derived.
