Crystallographic insights into the role of nickel on hardenability of wear-resistant steels

TLDR
In this article, two wear-resistant steel plates with different Ni content were studied to reveal the significant role of Ni on hardenability from the perspective of crystallography, and the 0.44Ni steel was of higher hardness compared with 0.02Ni steel.

On the variant pairing in transformation product of high strength low alloy steel depending on cooling rate

TL;DR: In this paper , phase transformation occurring at the nose temperature of bainite transformation curve was most likely to obtain the highest density of high angle grain boundaries and fraction of V1/V2 variant pair.

Dynamic fracture behavior of SA508-3 steel for nuclear power equipment under medium-and low-loading rates

TL;DR: In this paper , the microstructure and mechanical properties of the prepared SA508-3 steel were analyzed and tested, and it was shown that the main composition of the matrix of SA508 -3 steel is bainite, and the main composite of the second phase is alloy cementite containing Fe, Mn and C.

Effects of transformation temperature on variant pairing of bainitic ferrite in low carbon steel

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of transformation temperature on the variant pairing tendency of bainitic ferrite and the orientation relationship between BF and austenite matrix are investigated quantitatively in low-carbon, low-alloy steel by means of electron backscatter diffraction analysis.

New insights into the mechanism of cooling rate on the impact toughness of coarse grained heat affected zone from the aspect of variant selection

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors tried to establish a direct correlation between crystallographic variants and impact toughness, and provided some novel insights into the mechanism of cooling rate on the impact toughness of coarse grained heat affected zone (CGHAZ) of offshore engineering steel by means of electron back-scattering diffraction (EBSD) analysis.

Atomic-scale study on segregation behavior at austenite grain boundaries in boron- and molybdenum-added steels

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the effect of boron (B) and molybdenum (Mo) addition on the hardness of low carbon steels and found that the amount of B segregation at the prior austenite grain boundary was mostly independent of Mo content at a high cooling rate of 30°C/s.

Wetting and premelting phase transitions in 38° [100] tilt grain boundary in (Fe-12 at.% Si)-Zn alloy in the vicinity of the A2-B2 bulk ordering in Fe-12 at.% Si alloy

TL;DR: In this paper, an electron microprobe analysis of the grain boundary tilt of Fe-12 at.% Si alloy was performed by means of electron micro-probe, and it was shown that at temperature above Tw, the diffusion permeability of grain boundaries changes abruptly at Cbt.
