Triadimenol promotes the production of reactive oxygen species and apoptosis with cardiotoxicity and developmental abnormalities in zebrafish.

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors used the zebrafish animal model, a representative toxicological model, to investigate the developmental toxicity of one of the triazole fungicides, triadimenol, and found that it induced morphological alterations in the eyes and body length along with yolk sac and heart edema.
Journal ArticleDOI

Phytosphingosine-induced cell apoptosis via a mitochondrially mediated pathway.

TL;DR: In this article , the cytotoxic mechanism of phytosphingosine (PHS) was investigated in CNE-2 cells and it was determined to cause excessive production of reactive oxygen species and subsequently damage the mitochondrially mediated intrinsic apoptotic pathway.
Journal ArticleDOI

Alpinumisoflavone Impairs Mitochondrial Respiration via Oxidative Stress and MAPK/PI3K Regulation in Hepatocellular Carcinoma Cells

TL;DR: The results confirmed that alpinumisoflavone inhibited viability and regulated the MAPK/PI3K pathway in Hep3B and Huh7 cells and induced mitochondria-mediated apoptosis via regulation of the Bcl-xL and BAK proteins.

A newly developed consortium with a highly efficient thiocyanate degradation capacity: A comprehensive investigation of the degradation and detoxification potential.

TL;DR: In this article , a new efficient thiocyanate-degrading consortium was developed and its degradation characteristics were studied, and it was found that up to 154.64 mM thiocyclic acid could be completely degraded by this consortium over 6 days of incubation, with a maximum degradation rate of 1.53 mM h-1.

p53, the Cellular Gatekeeper for Growth and Division

TL;DR: The author regrets the lack of citations for many important observations mentioned in the text, but their omission is made necessary by restrictions in the preparation of review manuscripts.

Activation of Apoptosis Signalling Pathways by Reactive Oxygen Species

TL;DR: ROS play a central role in cell signalling as well as in regulation of the main pathways of apoptosis mediated by mitochondria, death receptors and the endoplasmic reticulum, and current understanding of the role of ROS in each of these three main pathways is focused on.
Journal ArticleDOI

Features of apoptotic cells measured by flow cytometry

TL;DR: The present review describes several methods to characterize and differentiate between two different mechanisms of cell death, apoptosis and necrosis, applied to studies of apoptosis triggered in the human leukemic HL-60 cell line by DNA topoisomerase I or II inhibitors, and in rat thymocytes by either topoisomersase inhibitors or prednisolone.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mitogen-activated protein kinases in apoptosis regulation.

TL;DR: The regulation of apoptosis by MAPKs is more complex than initially thought and often controversial, and it is critically point out the multiple roles ofMAPKs.

Trends in glyphosate herbicide use in the United States and globally

TL;DR: Glyphosate will likely remain the most widely applied pesticide worldwide for years to come, and interest will grow in quantifying ecological and human health impacts, according to published global pesticide use data.
