Double-Label Immunofluorescence with the Laser Scanning Confocal Microscope Using Cyanine Dyes

TLDR
The laser scanning confocal microscope, when used with the krypton-argon ion laser, is well suited for the simultaneous detection of pairs of antigens by immunofluorescence, but the use of fluorophores excited by the 488 nm line produces unsatisfactory results when tissue contains low wavelength-excitable aut ofluorescence.

Characterization of Photoinduced Isomerization and Back-Isomerization of the Cyanine Dye Cy5 by Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy

TL;DR: In this article, the fluorescence fluctuations of Cy5 have been investigated under steady-state excitation conditions by fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS), which can be used to characterize the photoinduced isomerization and back-isomerization, as well as the transitions between the singlet and triplet states.
Journal ArticleDOI

Perisynaptic surface distribution of multiple classes of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors on neurons in the chicken ciliary ganglion

TL;DR: The results suggest that most surface AChRs in both embryonic and mature chicken ciliary neurons are perisynaptic, which raises questions about the function of these AChR classes.

Human Muscarinic Cholinergic Receptor Hm1 Internalizes via Clathrin-coated Vesicles

TL;DR: It is shown that agonist-induced internalization of the Hm1 receptor occurs via clathrin-coated vesicles in HEK cells, and caveolin, the protein that comprises caveolae, did not colocalize with Hm 1 in intracellular vesicle following agonist treatment, indicating that Caveolae are not involved in the agonist -inducedinternalization of Hm2.

A Constitutively Internalizing and Recycling Mutant of the μ-Opioid Receptor

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that a mutant GPCR can be constructed such that internalization, normally an agonist‐dependent process, can occur spontaneously without concomitant G protein activation.

Pronounced cellular diversity and extrasynaptic location of nicotinic acetylcholine receptor subunit immunoreactivities in the chicken pretectum

TL;DR: The pronounced diversity of A ChR subunit expression and the extrasynaptic location of AChR-LI suggest that AChr-like molecules in the SpL do not function solely to respond to transmitter focally released from presynaptic terminals.
