TLDR
This paper completely analyze the hypercube network by explicitly computing the eigenstructure of its node adjacency matrix and shows that a diffusion approach to load balancing on a hypercube multiprocessor is inferior to another approach which is called the dimension exchange method.

Diffusive dynamic load balancing by terrain parcel swaps for event-driven simulation of communicating vehicles

TL;DR: A diffusive dynamic load balancing algorithm is presented for a wargaming simulation which is parallelized by partitioning the battlefield terrain among the nodes, and regularizing the shapes of each node's terrain partition so that lopsided dimensions, marked concavities, long thin peninsulas, etc., are avoided.

Local Deal-Agreement Based Monotonic Distributed Algorithms for Load Balancing in General Graphs.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a local distributed load balancing algorithm that iteratively transfers loads concurrently across the participants of the system, iterating until all loads are balanced, using a short local deal-agreement communication of proposal/deal, based on the neighborhood loads.
