TLDR
In this article, the effect of soil structure interaction and base isolation on the dynamic characteristics of an instrumented bridge is examined using transfer functions and measured motions in the frequency domain, and results are obtained for models of a bridge both without and with isolation pads for various values of the equivalent shear stiffness.

Soil–Structure Interaction Consideration for Base Isolated Structures under Earthquake Excitation

Arcan Yanik
- 30 Mar 2023 -
TL;DR: In this article , the authors analytically implemented base isolation with soil-structure interaction (SSI) on a sample structure and developed a very simple solution to add these combined effects into the mass, damping and stiffness matrices of the structure.

Soil-pile-structure interaction effects on seismic demands and fragility estimates of a typical Ontario highway bridge retrofitted with fiber reinforced elastomeric isolator

TL;DR: In this paper, a coupled three-dimensional nonlinear finite element model of an existing bridge in Ottawa, Ontario is developed as a representative of the 44% of the total bridges in Ontario that have been built prior to 1970.

Integrating Energy-Based Limit State Functions to Optimize Target Reliability of Bridge Pile for Seismic Events

TL;DR: In this article , a new energy-based limit state function is proposed for bridge substructure systems, including piles, to examine a structure's behavior in the presence of a natural disaster, and the structural target reliability indices for the bridge piles are delineated using the proposed optimization approaches.

System Identification of Two Base-Isolated Bridges Using Seismic Records

TL;DR: In this article, a two-step system identification method for identifying structural parameters from strong motion records is proposed, which is applied to two base-isolated bridges such that recorded responses at pier cap and girder are successfully recreated for one main shock and four aftershocks of the 1995 Kobe earthquake.
