Mist/Steam Cooling in a Heated Horizontal Tube—Part 1: Experimental System

TL;DR: In this article, a fundamental experimental program has been developed to study the heat transfer mechanisms of mist/steam cooling under highly superheated wall temperatures, where fine water droplets (3 {approximately} 15 microm in diameter) with the saturated steam at 15 bars were used to improve the airfoil cooling significantly for the future generation of turbine systems.

Mist/steam cooling in a 180{degree} tube bend

TL;DR: In this article, an experimental study on mist/steam cooling in a highly heated, horizontal 180-degree tube bend has been performed, and the results show that the heat transfer performance of steam can be significantly improved by adding mist into the main flow.

Modeling of heat transfer in a mist/steam impinging jet

TL;DR: In this paper, an impinging mist flow is modeled as heat flow to a spherical cap for a time dependent on the droplet size, surface tension, impact velocity and surface temperature, the model is used to interpret experimental results for steam invested with water mist in a confined slot jet.
