Abstract
This book was written to be used as an applied thermoscience textbook in a onesemester, college-level, undergraduate engineering course on internal combustion engines. It provides the material needed for a basic understanding of the operation of internal combustion engines. Students are assumed to have knowledge of fundamental thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics as a prerequisite to get maximum benefit from the text. TL;DR: In this article, a dual-step process viz. acid-base catalyzed transesterification was developed to produce the biodiesel, where free fatty acids in SMSO were converted into methyl esters through the esterification of the oil by using hydrochloric acid (HCl) as an acid catalyst with 6:1 methanol to molar ratio at 60°C for 1h, to reduce the acid value of the parent oil to below (2.60 mg KOH/g of oil).
