Role of noradrenergic projections to the bed nucleus of the stria terminalis in neuroendocrine and behavioral responses to fear-related stimuli in rats

Tatsushi Onaka, +1 more

TL;DR: The results suggest that noradrenergic fibers in the BNST mediate the suppressive vasopressin but not the augmentative oxytocin response to nonassociatively applied fear stimuli and that they modulate, in a facilitative fashion, acquisition but not retention or recall of the emotional memory associated with the vasoppressin and behavioral responses to conditioned fear stimuli.
Journal ArticleDOI

Time-course variations in tyrosine hydroxylase activity in the rat locus coeruleus after electrolytic destruction of the nuclei raphe dorsalis or raphe centralis.

TL;DR: It is proposed that the catecholaminergic neurons located in the locus coeruleus of the albino rat are directly and/or indirectly controlled by the serotonin-containing neurons Located in the anterior raphe system nuclei.
Journal ArticleDOI

Quantitative autoradiographic localization in rat brain of α2-adrenergic and non-adrenergic I-receptor binding sites labelled by [3H]rilmenidine

TL;DR: In vitro autoradiography was used to quantify the regional distribution of these receptors throughout the rat neuroaxis and found both similarities and differences to that reported using the imidazoline ligand, [3H]idazoxan, with common labelling of areas such as area postrema, arcuate and interpeduncular nuclei and pineal gland with the two ligands.

Immunohistochemical demonstration of regionally selective projections from locus coeruleus to the vestibular nuclei in rats

TL;DR: A regionally selective projection of tyrosine hydroxylase and dopamine beta-hydroxylases-immunoreactive fibers from locus coeruleus (LC) and the A4 region of nucleus subcoeruleus to the vestibular nuclear complex in Long-Evans and Sprague-Dawley rats was described in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Turning behavior induced by electrical stimulation of the nigro-neostriatal system of the rat.

TL;DR: Electrodes chronically implanted in the posterolateral hypothalamus close to the ascending axons of the nigrostriatal dopamine neurons were developed with the hope of obtaining an in vivo model for studies on nerve impulse related dopamine release in the brain.
