Comparison of the efficacy and safety of statin and statin/ezetimibe therapy after coronary stent implantation in patients with stable angina.

TL;DR: Although statin/ezetimibe therapy was effective and safe for intensive lipid-lowering in patients with stable angina after successful coronary stent implantation, improvement in clinical outcomes with the combination therapy remains unclear.
Journal ArticleDOI

Role of EPA in Inflammation: Mechanisms, Effects, and Clinical Relevance

Rosalia Crupi, +1 more
- 01 Feb 2022 -
TL;DR: An overview of the links between inflammation and cardiovascular risk factors is provided, importantly focusing on the role of diet, in particular examining the proposed role of EPA as well as the success or failure of standard pharmacological therapy for cardiovascular diseases.
Journal ArticleDOI

Association of risk factors for atherosclerosis, including high-sensitivity C-reactive protein, with carotid intima-media thickness, plaque score, and pulse wave velocity in a male population.

TL;DR: IMT, PS, and baPWV were all associated with different risk factors among male Japanese participants including obesity, smoking, alcohol, high blood pressure, impaired fasting glucose, dyslipidemia, and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein.
Journal ArticleDOI

Association between vitamin B group supplementation with changes in % flow-mediated dilatation and plasma homocysteine levels: a randomized controlled trial.

TL;DR: Low-dose multivitamin supplementation including B vitamins is associated with a significant reduction in plasma homocysteine levels among patients with one or more components of metabolic syndrome, and a significant increase in serum B vitamins and vitamin C levels was observed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Relationship of Cardiorespiratory Fitness and Body Mass Index with the Incidence of Dyslipidemia among Japanese Women: A Cohort Study.

TL;DR: It is suggested that CRF and BMI are interdependent and, together, they affect the incidence of dyslipidemia among Japanese women.

Carotid-Artery Intima and Media Thickness as a Risk Factor for Myocardial Infarction and Stroke in Older Adults

TL;DR: Increases in the thickness of the intima and media of the carotid artery, as measured noninvasively by ultrasonography, are directly associated with an increased risk of myocardial infarction and stroke in older adults without a history of cardiovascular disease.
Journal ArticleDOI

ESC/EAS Guidelines for the management of dyslipidaemias: The Task Force for the management of dyslipidaemias of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and the European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS)☆☆☆

TL;DR: These Joint ESC/European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS) guidelines on the management of dyslipidaemias are complementary to the guidelines on CVD prevention in clinical practice and address not only physicians but also specialists from lipid clinics or metabolic units who are dealing with dyslipIDAemias that are more difficult to classify and treat.
Journal ArticleDOI

Serum total cholesterol and long-term coronary heart disease mortality in different cultures. Twenty-five-year follow-up of the seven countries study

TL;DR: The large difference in absolute CHD mortality rates at a given cholesterol level, however, indicates that other factors, such as diet, that are typical for cultures with a low CHD risk are also important with respect to primary prevention.
