TLDR
In this paper, a micro-bubble generator type air-lift pump system was used to lift coal and solid particles in a sediment transport on sea and lakebeds, and the results showed that the injected inclination angle of the micro-bubble generator, the liquid and gas volumetric flow rates, the averaged particle diameters and the density of the lifted particles affect the ability to bring the solid particles upward.

Statistical Characterization of Flow Structure of Air–water Two-phase Flow in Airlift Pump–Bubble Generator System

TL;DR: In this article, the authors identify the flow structure in an air-lifted pump-bubble generator system by using experimentally obtained differential pressure signals, and the results indicate that the water movement mechanism in the riser pipe could be divided into three regions, namely fixed liquid, locally moving liquid and fully moving liquid, depending on the supplied superficial air velocity.

Air-lift pumps characteristics under two-phase flow conditions

TL;DR: In this article, an air-lift pump was designed and tested for nine submergence ratios and three risers of different lengths with different air injection pressures, and the results showed that the pump capacity and efficiency are functions of the air mass flow rate, submergence ratio and riser pipe length.
