Effects of heat input on mechanical properties of metal inert gas welded 1.6 mm thick galvanized steel sheet

TL;DR: In this article, a 13.7 kW maximum capacity MIG welding machine was used to join 1.6 mm thick sheet of galvanized steel with V groove and no gap between mm.

Simulation of fatigue properties for the weld joint of the X80 weld pipe before and after removing the weld reinforcement

TL;DR: In this paper, a model with different heat affected sub-zones in the finite element analysis (FEA) was conducted to explore the fatigue properties of the welded joints with and without weld reinforcement for a ferrite/bainite dual-phase X80 line-pipe.

Effect of vibration during welding on the fatigue strength of structural steel weldments

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of vibration during welding on the fatigue strength of structural steel weldments was investigated in order to improve reliability in the repair welded joints of steel bridge.
Journal ArticleDOI

Weld Failure Analysis of Air Radiator

TL;DR: In this article, a rare notch failure was investigated by means of macroscopic and microscopic observations, microstructural inspection, chemical analysis, and residual stress test, and the results show that the notch failure mode of the air radiator is attributed to high-cycle fatigue fracture, due to the welded lapping surfaces near the notch on both sides of the corrugated plate trough not being put onto one plane during the welding process.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fatigue life estimation of a butt welded joint by s-n approach

TL;DR: In this article, a failure analysis based on stress life approach may be useful for predicting the life time of weld in the structure and present an upcoming methodology in new three dimensional Finite Element Model to calculate the fatigue life of weld.

An analysis of fatigue cracks in fillet welded joints

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used fracture mechanics techniques to estimate the stress intensity factor for cracks with low a/2c values and the effect of the weld stress concentration factor was incorporated in the solution.
