This is a survey on graph visualization and navigation techniques, as used in information visualization, which approaches the results of traditional graph drawing from a different perspective.
Abstract
This is a survey on graph visualization and navigation techniques, as used in information visualization. Graphs appear in numerous applications such as Web browsing, state-transition diagrams, and data structures. The ability to visualize and to navigate in these potentially large, abstract graphs is often a crucial part of an application. Information visualization has specific requirements, which means that this survey approaches the results of traditional graph drawing from a different perspective.

Topological tree clustering of social network search results

TL;DR: This paper proposes to use the topological tree method to dynamically identify similar groups based on metadata and content to automatically organise social networking groups.

Large Data Scalability in Interactive Visual Analysis

TL;DR: This thesis describes a generic architecture to facilitate the development of highly interactive visual analysis tools using multi-threading and contributes an approach for quantifying subsets of the data by means of statistical moments for a potentially large number of dimensions.

Insights into the efficiencies of on-shore wind turbines: A data-centric analysis

TL;DR: A data-centric analysis of commercial on-shore wind turbines is presented and actionable insights are provided through analytical benchmarking through Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), visual data analysis, and statistical hypothesis testing.

Visualization of state transition graphs

TL;DR: This dissertation shows that interactive visualization can play a role during the analysis of state transition graphs and enables users to answer questions about their data.

Multivariate Networks : Visualization and Interaction Techniques

Ilir Jusufi
TL;DR: This research presents a novel and scalable approach called “Smart Cassandra” that combines reinforcement learning and artificial intelligence to solve the challenge of understanding how people’s social media accounts are connected to one another.

Graph drawing by force-directed placement

TL;DR: A modification of the spring‐embedder model of Eades for drawing undirected graphs with straight edges is presented, developed in analogy to forces in natural systems, for a simple, elegant, conceptually‐intuitive, and efficient algorithm.
