Journal ArticleDOI
Ethnic Diversity and Economic Performance
TL;DR: In this article, the authors survey and assess the literature on the positive and negative effects of ethnic diversity on economic policies and outcomes and highlight several open issues in need of further research.
Journal ArticleDOI
Putting the 'smarts' into the smart grid: a grand challenge for artificial intelligence
TL;DR: A research agenda for making the smart grid a reality is presented, with a focus on energy efficiency, smart grids and smart cities.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Coalitional Games for Distributed Collaborative Spectrum Sensing in Cognitive Radio Networks
TL;DR: This paper model the problem as a non-transferable coalitional game, and proposes a distributed algorithm for coalition formation through simple merge and split rules that can autonomously collaborate and self-organize into disjoint independent coalitions, while maximizing their detection probability taking into account the cooperation costs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Networks and farsighted stability
TL;DR: This paper provides a framework in which the notion of farsighted stability for games, introduced by Chwe (1994), can be applied to directed networks, and introducesThe notion of a supernetwork, a collection of directed networks that uniquely represents agent preferences and the rules governing network formation.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Internet economics: the use of Shapley value for ISP settlement
TL;DR: It is shown that if the distribution of profits is enforced at a global level, then there exist profit-sharing mechanisms derived from the coalition games concept of Shapley value and its extensions that will encourage selfish ISPs who seek to maximize their own profits to converge to a Nash equilibrium.

An Overview of Social Networks and Economic Applications
TL;DR: An overview of research on social networks and their role in shaping behavior and economic outcomes is provided in this article, which includes discussion of empirical and theoretical analyses of the role of social networks in markets and exchange, learning and diffusion, and network games.
