Confined water in tunnel nanopores of sepiolite: Insights from molecular simulations
TL;DR: In this paper, the water adsorption isotherm, density distribution profiles, and dynamic information of the confined waters in sepiolite tunnels were obtained, based on the distribution profile and trajectories of the water, which revealed the accurate distribution sites and proposed a new distribution model of the trapped water including one bound water site and four zeolitic water sites, which are determined by the lattice.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hydration layers on clay mineral surfaces in aqueous solutions: a review
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors highlighted the molecular structure of clay minerals, the origin of hydration layers on clay mineral surfaces, the hydration layer structural model, hydration force and the main parameters of affecting hydration on clay minerals (crystal structure, cationic type and strength, and solution pH).
Journal ArticleDOI
Specific Adsorption of Chromium Species on Kaolinite Surface
TL;DR: In this article, the specific adsorption of hydrolyzed chromium species on kaolinite surface was studied, and it was shown that the adsorbation reached the maximum near the precipitation pH (ppt) of chromium hydroxide.
Journal ArticleDOI
Shear-induced particles migration in a Bingham fluid
Olga M. Lavrenteva,Avinoam Nir +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors considered particle migration in monodisperse and bi-disperse suspension of spherical particles in a Bingham fluid and showed that particle concentration is continuously augmented in low shear rate regions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Adsorptive Performance of Surface-Modified Montmorillonite in Vanadium Removal from Mine Water
TL;DR: Montmorillonite modified with hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide was used to remove vanadium (V) from synthetic and real mine water in this article, where Fourier transform infrared, X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy were used to characterise the adsorbent before and after adsorption, while the amount of V adsorbed was determined by ICP-OES.
