In this article, a Fourier transform-based analytical coupled-mode theory for high refractive index contrast Bragg gratings is presented, which is useful for designing gratings and photonic crystal structures.
Abstract
We present a Fourier transform-based analytical coupled-mode theory for high refractive index contrast Bragg gratings. The theory is useful for designing gratings and photonic crystal structures. It also predicts photon localisation for only infinite crystalline structures.

An isomorphic Fourier transform analysis of AWGs and FBGs

TL;DR: In this article, the spectral transfer functions of arrayed-waveguide gratings and fiber Bragg gratings were characterized using a functionally identical Fourier transform integral, with the only difference being that the FT lies within a simple hyperbolic function for the FBG case.

An efficient inverse scattering algorithm for the design of nonuniform fiber Bragg gratings

TL;DR: In this article, a differential layer-peeling algorithm is proposed for the design of complex fiber Bragg gratings, which relies on the synthesis of the impulse response of the grating by means of a differential-layer peeling algorithm.

Filter response of nonuniform almost-periodic structures

TL;DR: The filter response of nonuniform, almost-periodic structures, such as corrugated optical waveguides, is investigated theoretically and the Riccati equation was evaluated numerically.

Design of corrugated waveguide filters by the Gel’fand–Levitan–Marchenko inverse-scattering method

TL;DR: In this article, a rigorous design rule of corrugated waveguide filters is developed by employing the Gel'fand-Levitan-Marchenko inverse-scattering method for the two-component coupled-wave equations of the Zakharov-Shabat type.

Propagation through nonuniform grating structures

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors consider linear propagation through shallow, non-uniform gratings, such as those written in the core of photosensitive optical fibers, and present a rigorous derivation and include effects that are second order in the grating parameters.
