Histidine decarboxylase and DOPA decarboxylase in the rat stomach. Properties and cellular localization.

TLDR
The results of the present studies suggest that exogenous gastrin acts and that the common mechanism for all other agents which cause an activation of gastric histidine decarboxylase may be the release of endogenous gastrin.

Endocrine Cells of the Gastric Mucosa

TL;DR: Based on morphological evidence, more hormones than those presently reported are to be expected from the gastric mucosa, which supports the existence of four endocrine products, namely, 5-hydroxytryptamine (5HT), gastrin, histamine, and gastro glucagon.

Inhibition of histamine synthesis in brain by alpha-fluoromethylhistidine, a new irreversible inhibitor: in vitro and in vivo studies.

TL;DR: For example, alpha-Fluoromethylhistidine (α-FMH) has been used for in vitro and in vivo studies of brain histidine decarboxylase (HD) as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Properties and regional distribution of histidine decarboxylase in rat brain

TL;DR: Determination of enzyme activity and histamine level in different areas of the rat brain revealed important regional differences, and different data suggest that the 'specific’histidine decarboxylase (EC 4.1.22)—and not the aromatic l‐aminoacid decar boxylase—is involved.

The Cells of the Gastric Mucosa

TL;DR: This chapter describes the structure of the normal adult mammalian gastric mucosa, which is divided into three different zones: the cardiac zone, the fundus-corpus zone, and the pyloric zone which differ from each other with respect to the depth of the gastric pits and the organization of their glands.

Amine mechanisms in enterochromaffin and enterochromaffin-like cells of gastric mucosa in various mammals.

TL;DR: The stomach wall from a variety of mammals was analyzed histochemically and chemically for the presence of histamine, arylethylamines and the corresponding amino acid decarboxylases, finding that the entire system of gastric argyrophil cells may have an endocrine function.

A simple efficient liquid scintillator for counting aqueous solutions in a liquid scintillation counter

TL;DR: A modification of the naphthalene-dioxane-PPO liquid scintillator has been described which will allow up to 3.0 ml of an aqueous solution to be counted as mentioned in this paper.

A method for the fluorometric assay of histamine in tissues

TL;DR: Gross dissection of brain showed no marked localization of brain histamine and a sensitive and specific fluorometric method for the estimation of histamine in tissues was described.

A detailed methodological description of the fluorescence method for the cellular demonstration of biogenic monoamines

TL;DR: A methodological description gives detailed instructions for the preparation, freeze-drying, histochemical treatment, and sectioning of tissues for fluorescence microscopy of catecholamines, 5-hydroxytryptamine and their immediate precursors.
