TLDR
This work integrates the available information including genetics, behaviour, morphology, ecology and biogeography of the mosquito, with human history to reach a realistic and comprehensive understanding of this important vector of yellow fever, dengue and Chikungunya.
Abstract
The adaptation of insect vectors of human diseases to breed in human habitats (domestication) is one of the most important phenomena in medical entomology. Considerable data are available on the vector mosquito Aedes aegypti in this regard and here we integrate the available information including genetics, behaviour, morphology, ecology and biogeography of the mosquito, with human history. We emphasise the tremendous amount of variation possessed by Ae. aegypti for virtually all traits considered. Typological thinking needs to be abandoned to reach a realistic and comprehensive understanding of this important vector of yellow fever, dengue and Chikungunya.

A comparative study of consumption of Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus larvae by ornamental fishes to control their population in West Bengal

TL;DR: In this article , the consumption rates of four ornamental fish species (Gold fish, Betta fish, Molly fish, and Guppy) for Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus larvae have been observed in the present study, and a comparison between the mean consumption rate of the four fish species for both AegyptI and Aed albopeictus has been recorded, and the intake rates for both types of larvae were almost same for the four species of fish.

Ovitrap Monitor - Online application for counting mosquito eggs and visualisation toolbox in support of health services

TL;DR: Ovitrap Monitor as discussed by the authors is an online open source and user-friendly integrated application that semi-automatically counts mosquito eggs from low-medium resolution mobile phone pictures, and a high correlation was found between counts performed by a technician and those obtained with the app using an extensive dataset of more than 750 ovitrap pictures.

Analysis of Aedes aegypti microRNAs in response to Wolbachia wAlbB infection and their potential role in mosquito longevity

TL;DR: In this paper , the impact of Wolbachia infection on the microRNA profile of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes was investigated using the first chromosome-level map of A. Aegypti miRNAs, and compared miRNA expression profiles between a w AlbB-transinfected and a tetracycline cleared derivative using deep small RNA-sequencing.

The Yellow Fever Outbreak in Global Perspective is Serious and of Great Concern

TL;DR: This review represented the occurrence of YF diseases in the 21st century and the remotely sensed satellite data are used to define climatic limits within a discriminant analytical model frame work.

Flavivirus susceptibility in Aedes aegypti.

TL;DR: A population genetic model for vector competence is proposed and recent progress in testing this model is discussed and approaches being taken to identify the genes that may control flavivirus susceptibility in Ae.
