Influence of the addition of H-2 upon the behavior and properties of a Pd(2 wt.%)/gamma-Al2O3 catalyst and a comparison with the case of the Pt-based catalyst

TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of adding H-2 in the feed during catalytic combustion of methane (CCM) on a Pd(2 wt.%)gamma-Al2O3 catalyst is studied.
Journal ArticleDOI

Simulation of catalytic oxidation of lean hydrogen–methane mixtures

TL;DR: In this paper, the combustion of preheated lean homogeneous mixtures of hydrogen with methane in air in a catalytic packed-bed reactor was modeled at atmospheric pressure, and it was shown that the hydrogen is consumed completely within the early part of the reactor length in all the cases considered for simulations.
Journal ArticleDOI

Simulation of hetero/homogeneous combustion characteristics of CH4/air in a half packed-bed catalytic combustor

TL;DR: In this article, the catalytic combustion of CH4/air mixtures in a half packed-bed combustor was investigated numerically to acquire the hetero/homogeneous combustion characteristics.

High-pressure catalytic combustion of gasified biomass in a hybrid combustor

TL;DR: In this article, a hybrid monolith was used for catalytic combustion of synthetic gasified biomass in a high-pressure facility at pressures ranging from 5 to 16 bars, where the catalytic combustor design considered was a hybrid mono-cluster.

Steps in CH4 oxidation on Pt and Rh surfaces: High‐temperature reactor simulations

TL;DR: In this article, a 19-elementary-step model of adsorption, desorption and surface reaction steps with reaction parameters from the literature or from fits to previous experiments was used to simulate the direct oxidation of CH4 to H2 and CO in O2 and in air at high temperatures over alumina foam monoliths.

Modeling the partial oxidation of methane in a short‐contact‐time reactor

TL;DR: In this paper, a tube wall catalytic reactor was simulated as a model for a single pore of the monolithic catalyst using a 2-D flow field description coupled with detailed reaction mechanisms for surface and gas-phase chemistry.
Journal ArticleDOI

A model of elementary chemistry and fluid mechanics in the combustion of hydrogen on platinum surfaces

TL;DR: In this paper, the catalyzed combustion of lean hydrogen-oxygen mixtures in a stagnation flow over a platinum surface and in a flat-plate boundary layer is analyzed. But the results of the analysis are limited.
Journal ArticleDOI

Experimental and numerical investigation of the catalytic ignition of mixtures of hydrogen and oxygen on platinum

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors studied catalytic ignition of mixtures of H2 + O2 by measuring and simulating the temporal evolution from the kinetically controlled regime (i.e., prior to ignition) to the state controlled by mass transport after ignition.
