Identification of some of the polysilicate components of trimethylsilylated cement paste

TLDR
In this article, the trimsilyl derivatives from polymerised silicate anions in an eight-year-old cement paste have been fractionated by high pressure liquid chromatography (hplc) and the fractions examined by thin layer chromatography, mass spectrometry and infrared spectrometer.

Tobermorite/jennite- and tobermorite/calcium hydroxide-based models for the structure of C-S-H: applicability to hardened pastes of tricalcium silicate, β-dicalcium silicate, Portland cement, and blends of Portland cement with blast-furnace slag, metakaolin, or silica fume

TL;DR: In this article, the applicability of the tobermorite-jennite (T/J) and T/CH viewpoints for the nanostructure of C-S-H present in real cement pastes is discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

The nature of C-S-H in hardened cements

TL;DR: In this paper, the morphology, composition, and nanostructure of C-S-H in a range of hardened cements were investigated. But the authors focused on the inner product (Ip) of a slag-based mixture of Portland cement and slag.

Solubility and structure of calcium silicate hydrate

TL;DR: In this paper, a family of solubility curves for poorly crystalline calcium silicate hydrate (C-S-H) phases were derived from 29Si magic-angle spinning (MAS) NMR data and by charge balance calculations.

Proposed Structure for Calcium Silicate Hydrate Gel

TL;DR: In this article, a disordered layer structure of Calcium silicate hydrate gel is presented, in which most of the layers are structurally imperfect ones of jennite (Ca9Si6O32H22), and others are similarly related to 1.4-nm tobermorite, both structures being modified by omission of many of their silicate tetrahedra.

Incorporation of aluminum in the calcium silicate hydrate (C-S-H) of hydrated portland cements: a high-field 27Al and 29Si MAS NMR investigation.

TL;DR: Al phase resulting from hydration of a white Portland cement in water and in a NaAlO(2) solution results in a C-S-H phase with a longer mean chain length of SiO(4) tetrahedra and an increased quantity of Al incorporated in the chain structure as compared to the C- S-Hphase resulting fromHydration of wPc in water.

Zum Aufbau Schlecht geordneter Calciumhydrogensilicate. II. Über eine aus Poly‐ und Disilicat bestehende Phase

TL;DR: The structure of ill-crystallized Calcium Hydrogen Silicates has been studied in this article, where the CaO content of the phase synthesized at 80°C varies between 1.1 and 2CaO/SiO2 depending on the Ca(OH)2 concentration in the mother liquid.

Effect of prolonged drying upon the silicate structure of hydrated alite pastes

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of prolonged drying and initial water/alite ratio upon the silicate structure of hydrated alite paste were examined using quantitative gel permeation chromatography of the trimethylsilyl silicate derivatives.

Hydration of C3S-pozzolana paste estimated by trimethylsilylation

TL;DR: In this paper, the structure, quantity and the degree of polycondensation of silicate ion in C 3 S-pozzolana pastes were examined and discussed in relation to the strenght and the rate of hydration of C 3S and pozzolnana.

A new characterization technique for trimethylsilylated products of old cement pastes

TL;DR: In this article, the trimethylsilyl derivatives of SiO44− and Si2O76− ions were easily identified by GPC and the constitutions of the other silicate anion derivatives were inferred on the basis of their molecular weights, relative to those of the SiO 44 − and Si 2 − ions.
