In vitro studies on light-induced inhibition of Photosystem II and D1-protein degradation at low temperatures

TLDR
The results reveal that the Photosystem II electron transport per se is less sensitive to high light at low temperatures in contrast to the overall photosynthetic process, and D1-protein degradation is severely retarded below 7°C.

Too much of a good thing: light can be bad for photosynthesis

TL;DR: The plant survives this photoinhibition through an efficient repair system which involves an autoproteolytic activity of the photosystem II complex, D1-polypeptide synthesis and reassembly of active complexes.

CHILLING SENSITIVITY IN PLANTS AND CYANOBACTERIA: The Crucial Contribution of Membrane Lipids

TL;DR: This review covers recent studies on genetic manipulation of acyl-lipid desaturases and glycerol-3-phosphate acyltransferase in transgenic tobacco and cyanobacteria with special emphasis on the crucial importance of the unsaturation of membrane lipids in protecting the photosynthetic machinery from photoinhibition under cold conditions.

Dynamics of photosynthetic membrane composition and function

TL;DR: The goal of this review is to put the thylakoid membrane into perspective, to address cause and effect relationships between the different phenomena, and also to address potential mechanisms for the regulation of these phenomena at the molecular level.

Biochemistry of Oxidative Stress

Helmut Sies
- 01 Dec 1986 -
TL;DR: Diverse biological processes such as inflammation, carcinogenesis, ageing, radiation damage and photobiological effects appear to involve reactive oxygen species, and oxidative stress denotes a shift in the prooxidant/antioxidant balance in favor of the former.
