Linking the long-term variability in global wave energy to swell climate and redefining suitable coasts for energy exploitation
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors quantify the dependency of stability of wave energy flux (power) on long-term variability of wind and wave climate to detect a relationship between them, and redefined the suitability of global hotspots for wave energy extraction using intra-annual fluctuation, longterm change, and the available wave power for the period of six decades.

Global trends in oceanic wind speed, wind-sea, swell, and mixed wave heights
Chongwei Zheng,Cesar Azorin-Molina,Chong-yin Li,Qing Wang,Zi-niu Xiao,Shaoluia Yang,Xuan Chen,Chao Zhan +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors reveal the climatic trends of global oceanic wind speed and wave height for 1979-2018, including the overall trends, regional and seasonal differences of the trends, with a special focus on the differences and similarities between the trends in wind-sea wave height (Hwind) and swell wave height(Hswell), as well as the contributions of climate indices to WS, Hwind, Hswell and Significant Wave Height (Hs) respectively, by employing linear regression and correlation analysis.
