Journal ArticleDOI
Importance of polarity of the α4-α5 loop residue-Asn(166) in the pore-forming domain of the Bacillus thuringiensis Cry4Ba toxin: implications for ion permeation and pore opening.
Thanate Juntadech,Yodsoi Kanintronkul,Chalermpol Kanchanawarin,Gerd Katzenmeier,Chanan Angsuthanasombat +4 more
TL;DR: Results signify that the polarity at the α4-α5 loop residue-Asn(166) is directly involved in ion permeation through the Cry4Ba toxin-induced ionic pore and pore opening at the membrane-water interface.
Journal ArticleDOI
Larval Settlement of the Atlantic Rangia, Rangia cuneata (Bivalvia: Mactridae)
Karen Sundberg,Victor S. Kennedy +1 more
TL;DR: Rangia cuneata larvae were given the opportunity to settle on substrate types that differed in grain size, organic content, and bacterial abundance, and it appears that competent larvae do not delay settlement, even in the absence of “attractive” substrates.
Journal ArticleDOI
Elucidation of the role of hydrophobic interactions in the adsorption of endo-1,4-β-glucanases on polysaccharides
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors show that hydrophobic interaction is the principal force affecting the interaction of endoglucanases with polysaccharidic ligands, consistent with other relevant results available in the literature.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stunted growth, increased mortality, and liver tumors in offspring of polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) dosed sherman rats.
TL;DR: Firemaster FF-1, a polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) mixture, was dissolved in corn oil and given as a dose of 200 mg/kg body weight to Sherman rats on d 7 and 14 of pregnancy resulted in PBB body burdens in the offspring still measurable at the end of their lifespan.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pattern of Resource Allocation of Six Plantago Species with Different Breeding Systems
TL;DR: The predominantly inbreeding taxa invest higher reproductive effort compared to their outbreeding allies and the outbreeding species like P. lanceolata, P. drummondii, and P. ovata invest greater resources to the female function.
