Carbon isotopic composition of atmospheric CH4: Fossil and biomass burning source strengths

TL;DR: The 13C/12C of atmospheric methane (CH4) was measured at Point Barrow (71°N, 156°W), Olympic Peninsula (48°N and 126°W) and Cape Grim (41°S, 144°E) between 1987 and 1989, and the global average δ13CPDB from these measurements (n = 208) was −47.20 ± 0.13%o as mentioned in this paper.

Isotopic compositions and probable origins of organic molecules in the Eocene Messel shale

TL;DR: It is shown that the carbon isotopic compositions of these and other biomarkers allow identification of specific sources for some materials and reconstruction of carbon flows within the lake and its sediments, and the 13C content of organic matter synthesized by lacustrine primary producers can be estimated from the observed 13Ccontent of the geoporphyrins derived from their chlorophylls.
