Light-scattering experiments on phase-separation dynamics in binary fluid mixtures

TLDR
Elastic light scattering and optical microscopy were used to follow the phase separation after quenches into the coexistence region of the phase diagram.
Abstract
We present the method and results of two phase-separation experiments performed on the binary polymer blend polyisoprene-poly(ethylene propylene). Elastic light scattering and optical microscopy were used to follow the phase separation after quenches into the coexistence region of the phase diagram.

Surface induced self assembly in thin polymer films

TL;DR: The effect of boundary surfaces on phase separation and micro-phase separation in binary polymer blends and block copolymers has gained increasing attention over the last 5 years as mentioned in this paper, and the possibility to actively control the domain morphologies via surface interactions in view of possible technological applications.
Journal ArticleDOI

Interplay between wetting and phase separation in binary fluid mixtures: roles of hydrodynamics

TL;DR: In this paper, the phase-separation kinetics and morphology are affected by the preferential wetting of a solid surface by one component of a binary fluid mixture, which is crucially dependent upon whether the spinodal decomposition is bicontinuous-type or droplet-type.

Phase Transitions of Polymer Blends and Block Copolymer Melts in Thin Films

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a survey of results obtained with the Self-Consistent Field Theory of Phase Separation in Thin Films, including block copolymers in the weak and strong segregation limit.

Use of a charge coupled device camera for low-angle elastic light scattering

TL;DR: In this article, a charge coupled device (CCD) camera was used to implement a low-angle elastic light scattering setup, which brought all the light scattered by the sample directly onto the CCD, optimizing the instrument sensitivity.

Dynamic light scattering with a CCD camera

TL;DR: In this article, a method to measure intensity autocorrelation functions with a CCD camera and a fast computer has been proposed for low-intensity applications like x-ray correlation spectroscopy.
