Measuring the efficiency of decision making units

TLDR
A nonlinear (nonconvex) programming model provides a new definition of efficiency for use in evaluating activities of not-for-profit entities participating in public programs and methods for objectively determining weights by reference to the observational data for the multiple outputs and multiple inputs that characterize such programs.

The impact of strategic management and fleet planning on airline efficiency – A random effects Tobit model based on DEA efficiency scores

TL;DR: In this article, the authors applied a two-stage Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) approach, with partially bootstrapped random effects Tobit regressions in the second stage, to evaluate key determinants of 58 passenger airlines' efficiency.

Value efficiency analysis of academic research

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors propose a systematic approach to analyze academic research performance at universities and research institutes based on identifying a set of decision-relevant (abstract) criteria.

An Examination of Technical, Pure Technical, and Scale Efficiencies in Indian Public Sector Banks using Data Envelopment Analysis

TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured the extent of technical, pure technical, and scale efficiencies in 27 public sector banks (PSBs) operating in India in the year 2004/05.

On the origins of data envelopment analysis

TL;DR: Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) was introduced in the journal literature by the highly influential 1978 paper of Charnes, Cooper, and Rhodes as mentioned in this paper, and the development of research leading up to this paper tended to be forgotten.
Journal ArticleDOI

Deriving the DEA frontier for two-stage processes

TL;DR: An approach for determining the frontier points for inefficient DMUs within the framework of two-stage DEA is developed.

Theory of cost and production functions

TL;DR: In this article, a unified treatment of cost and production functions underlie the economic theory of production is presented, and the duality between cost function and production function is developed by introducing a cost correspondence, showing that these two functions are given in terms of each other by dual minimum problems.

Cost and production functions

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a mathematical interpretation of the duality between cost and production function, and present a heuristic principle of minimum costs and a Cobb-Douglas production function.
