Progress and perspectives in laser additive manufacturing of key aeroengine materials

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors provide a critical and in-depth evaluation of laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) and laser directed energy deposition (LDED) technologies of the mentioned aeroengine materials.
Journal ArticleDOI

Metastable pitting corrosion behavior of laser powder bed fusion produced Ti-6Al-4V in Hank’s solution

TL;DR: In this article , the authors investigated the metastable pitting corrosion behavior of LPBF-produced Ti-6Al-4V in Hank's solution by electrochemical methods and found that the passive films formed on the LPBF produced sample exhibit a higher flux of oxygen vacancies, resulting in the absorption of more aggressive ions (e.g., Cl-) thereby producing more cation vacancies.
Journal ArticleDOI

Review of laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) fabricated Ti-6Al-4V: process, post-process treatment, microstructure, and property

TL;DR: In this article, the authors review the recent progress in post-process treatment and its influence on the microstructure evolution and material performance, including tensile, fatigue, fracture toughness, creep, and corrosion properties.
Journal ArticleDOI

The corrosion behavior of Ti6Al4V fabricated by selective laser melting in the artificial saliva with different fluoride concentrations and pH values

TL;DR: In this article, the corrosion behavior of the SLM and wrought Ti6Al4V is comparatively investigated, and the critical NaF concentrations of SLM in the three cases of pH 2, 4 and 6 are 0.0020m, 0.080m and 0.10m, respectively.

Atomic Radii in Crystals

TL;DR: A set of empirical atomic radii has been set up, such that the sum of the radii of two atoms forming a bond in a crystal or molecule gives an approximate value of the internuclear distance.
