TLDR
It is found that mimosine-treated cells had a reduction in the pools of dGTP and dATP and that Mimosine inhibited ribonucleotide reductase in vitro in an iron-dependent manner.

Human cytomegalovirus infection inhibits G1/S transition.

TL;DR: Analysis of DNA content in growth-arrested as well as serum-stimulated human fibroblasts demonstrated that cytomegalovirus inhibits normal cell cycle progression, and the host cell is blocked prior to S phase to provide a favorable environment for viral replication.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mimosine arrests proliferating human cells before onset of DNA replication in a dose-dependent manner.

TL;DR: It is shown that 0.5 mM mimosine can induce a cell cycle arrest of human somatic cells in late G1 phase, before establishment of active DNA replication forks, which can be exploited for studying the initiation of human DNA replication in vitro.

Neural Precursor Cells for Delivery of Replication-Conditional HSV-1 Vectors to Intracerebral Gliomas

TL;DR: Mimosine-treated neural precursor cells injected into established intracerebral CNS-1 gliomas in nude mice migrated extensively throughout the tumor and into the surrounding parenchyma beyond the tumor over 3 days, and this migratory cell delivery method has the potential to expand the range of delivery of HSV-1 vectors to tumor cells in the brain.

Mimosine Arrests DNA Synthesis at Replication Forks by Inhibiting Deoxyribonucleotide Metabolism (

TL;DR: Results show that mimosine inhibits DNA synthesis at the level of elongation of nascent chains by altering deoxyribonucleotide metabolism.
