Abstract
Coordination improves the performance of a supply chain system. Two popular coordination mechanisms are 'price discount' and 'delay in payment'. The effect of these two mechanisms individually on supply chain performance has already been reported in literature. In this work, the two mechanisms 'price discount' and 'delay in payment' are used simultaneously to coordinate a three-level supply chain system. The problem has been modelled mathematically and solved. The result obtained in the case is compared with that obtained when using 'price discount' alone. It is seen that use of 'price discount' along with 'delay in payment' enhances the supply chain profit significantly compared to the case of price discounts alone.

Performance of Supply Chain when using selected Coordination Mechanisms

TL;DR: In this article, the performance of a multi-level supply chain while using selected coordination mechanisms separately, and in combination, under lost sale and back order cases was investigated. But the authors did not consider the effect of information sharing on the performance.

Supply chain coordination: Perspectives, empirical studies and research directions

TL;DR: A systematic literature review on supply chain coordination is presented in this paper, which reports and reviews various perspectives on SC coordination issues, understand and appreciate various mechanisms available for coordination and identify the gaps existing in the literature.

Pattern of information technology use: The impact on buyer–suppler coordination and performance

TL;DR: In this article, a model that relates the pattern of supplier use of IT to specific types of supply chain coordination activities and a comprehensive set of organizational benefits is proposed, and the authors evaluate how two patterns of IT use by suppliers (exploitation and exploration) relate to two specific type of coordination activities with their buyers (operational and strategic coordination).

Manufacturer’s revenue-sharing contract and retail competition

TL;DR: The study finds that the provision of revenue-sharing in the contract can obtain better performance than a price-only contract, and investigates how the competition (between retailers) factor influences the decision-making of supply chain members in response to uncertain demand and profit variability.

Coordinating a three-level supply chain with quantity discounts

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors consider a three-level supply chain and explore the benefits of using quantity discounts on both ends of the supply chain to decrease costs, and they show that incorporating quantity discounts into both ends can significantly decrease costs compared to concentrating only on the lower levels.

Coordinating a two-level supply chain with delay in payments and profit sharing

TL;DR: In the proposed supply chain model the permissible delay in payments is considered as a decision variable and it is adopted as a trade credit scenario to coordinate the order quantity between the two-levels.
