Alexander Berk,Lawrence S. Bernstein,Gail P. Anderson,Prabhat K. Acharya,David C. Robertson,James H. Chetwynd,Steven M. Adler-Golden +6 more
TLDR
In this paper, the impact of these upgrades on predictions for AVIRIS viewing scenarios is discussed for both clear and clouded skies; the CK approach provides refined predictions for nadir and near-nadir viewing.About:

Actinic radiation in the terrestrial atmosphere
R. R. Meier,G.P Anderson,Christopher A. Cantrell,L. A. Hall,Judith Lean,K Minschwaner,Richard E. Shetter,Eric P. Shettle,Knut Stamnes +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the status of our knowledge of actinic radiation throughout the middle and lower atmosphere with the goal of summarizing progress to date and identifying future requirements is described, with the focus mainly on radiation, with wavelengths between 170 and 400 nm, but does include other UV radiation which is deposited in the middle atmosphere.

Cloud cover detection algorithm for EO-1 Hyperion imagery
TL;DR: In this article, a cloud cover detection algorithm was developed for application to EO-1 Hyperion hyperspectral data, which uses only bands in the reflected solar spectral regions to discriminate clouds from surface features.

Characterization of fine resolution field spectrometers using solar Fraunhofer lines and atmospheric absorption features
Michele Meroni,Lorenzo Busetto,Luis Guanter,Sergio Cogliati,Giovanni Franco Crosta,Mirco Migliavacca,Cinzia Panigada,Micol Rossini,Roberto Colombo +8 more
TL;DR: The algorithm retrieves systematic shifts in channel position and actual full width at half-maximum of the instrument by comparing data acquired during standard field spectroscopy measurement operations with a reference irradiance spectrum modeled with the MODTRAN4 radiative transfer code.

Shadow-insensitive material detection/classification with atmospherically corrected hyperspectral imagery
Steven M. Adler-Golden,Robert Y. Levine,Michael W. Matthew,Steven Richtsmeier,Lawrence S. Bernstein,John H. Gruninger,Gerald W. Felde,Michael L. Hoke,Gail P. Anderson,Anthony J. Ratkowski +9 more
TL;DR: Shadow-insensitive detection or classification of surface materials in atmospherically corrected hyperspectral imagery can be achieved by expressing the reflectance spectrum as a linear combination of spectra that correspond to illumination by the direct sum and by the sky.

Retrieval of sulfur dioxide from a ground-based thermal infrared imaging camera
Alfred J Prata,C. Bernardo +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, an experimental fast-sampling (60 Hz) ground-based uncooled thermal imager (Cyclops) operating with four spectral channels at central wavelengths of 8.6, 10, 11 and 12 μm and one broadband channel (7-14 μm) has been tested at several volcanoes and at an industrial site, where SO2 was a major constituent of the plumes.

A description of the correlated k distribution method for modeling nongray gaseous absorption, thermal emission, and multiple scattering in vertically inhomogeneous atmospheres
Andrew A. Lacis,Valdar Oinas +1 more
TL;DR: A radiative transfer method for treating nongray gaseous absorption and thermal emission in vertically inhomogeneous multiple scattering atmospheres is described in this paper, where probability density distributions of absorption coefficient strength are derived from line-by-line calculations to construct line-By-line and band model based k distributions.
