MODTRAN cloud and multiple scattering upgrades with application to AVIRIS

TLDR
In this paper, the impact of these upgrades on predictions for AVIRIS viewing scenarios is discussed for both clear and clouded skies; the CK approach provides refined predictions for nadir and near-nadir viewing.

Gradient-Based Automatic Lookup Table Generator for Radiative Transfer Models

TL;DR: In this paper, the gradient-based automatic LUT generator algorithm (GALGA) is proposed to automatically select the minimum and optimal set of input-output points (nodes) to be included in an LUT.
Journal ArticleDOI

Assessment of Coarse-Resolution Land Cover Products Using CASI Hyperspectral Data in an Arid Zone in Northwestern China

TL;DR: A pixel-based hierarchical classification strategy followed by an object-based classification method was applied to compact airborne spectrographic imager (CASI) hyperspectral data in order to produce highly accurate, high spatial resolution classification reference data.
Journal ArticleDOI

Retrieval of microphysical and optical properties in aerosol plumes with hyperspectral imagery: L-APOM method

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present the retrieval method L-APOM which aims at characterizing the microphysical and optical properties of aerosol plumes from hyperspectral images with high spatial resolution.
Journal ArticleDOI

Gradient-based Automatic Look-Up Table Generator for Atmospheric Radiative Transfer Models.

TL;DR: It is concluded that an automatic LUT design might benefit from the methodology proposed in GALGA to reduce interpolation errors and computation time in computationally expensive RTMs.

Examination of spaceborne imaging spectroscopy data utility for stratigraphic and lithologic mapping

TL;DR: In this paper, the Earth-Observing-1 Hyperion imaging spectrometer was used to map the geology arena over the Dana Geology National Park, Jordan, and a classification scheme of two levels was applied, the first level resulted in a stratigraphic classification product of eleven classes and the second level inalithologic classifications of six classes.

Numerically stable algorithm for discrete-ordinate-method radiative transfer in multiple scattering and emitting layered media.

TL;DR: An advanced, thoroughly documented, and quite general purpose discrete ordinate algorithm for time-independent transfer calculations in vertically inhomogeneous, nonisothermal, plane-parallel media for Atmospheric applications ranging from the UV to the radar region of the electromagnetic spectrum is summarized.

The hitran molecular database: editions of 1991 and 1992

TL;DR: The HITRAN molecular absorption database as mentioned in this paper contains line parameters for 31 species and their isotopomers that are significant for terrestrial atmospheric studies, including chlorofluorocarbons and other molecular species that are not amenable to line-by-line representation.

A description of the correlated k distribution method for modeling nongray gaseous absorption, thermal emission, and multiple scattering in vertically inhomogeneous atmospheres

TL;DR: A radiative transfer method for treating nongray gaseous absorption and thermal emission in vertically inhomogeneous multiple scattering atmospheres is described in this paper, where probability density distributions of absorption coefficient strength are derived from line-by-line calculations to construct line-By-line and band model based k distributions.
