MODTRAN cloud and multiple scattering upgrades with application to AVIRIS

TLDR
In this paper, the impact of these upgrades on predictions for AVIRIS viewing scenarios is discussed for both clear and clouded skies; the CK approach provides refined predictions for nadir and near-nadir viewing.

Unsupervised Fuzzy ARTMAP Classification of Hyperspectral Hyperion Data for Savanna and Agriculture Discrimination in the Brazilian Cerrado

TL;DR: In this article, an unsupervised fuzzy ARTMAP was compared against conventional k-means classification of Cerrado and agriculture, based on Hyperion satellite data, and the effect of an additional surface liquid-water input vector was also tested.
Journal ArticleDOI

Solar irradiance computations compared with observations at the Baseline Surface Radiation Network Payerne site

TL;DR: In this article, MODTRAN4v3r1TM was used for model simulations and compared with high quality radiation observations of the Baseline Surface Radiation Network (BSRN) site at Payerne, Switzerland.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Hyperspectral remote sensing data to map hazardous materials in a rural and industrial district: The Podgorica dwellings case studies

TL;DR: Results show that hyperspectral remote sensing data can provide an efficient, fast and repeatable tool for mapping and monitoring the diffusion of pollutants providing the location of the hazardous areas to be checked.

Analysis and interpretation of satellite measurements in the near-infrared spectral region: Atmospheric carbon dioxide and methane

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used the scientific retrieval algorithm WFM-DOAS on the SCIAMACHY near-infrared nadir measurements to simultaneously retrieve vertical columns of CO2 (from the 1.58μm absorption band), CH4 (1.66μm) and oxygen (O2 Aband at 0.76μm).

Atacama Field Campaign: laboratory and in-situ measurements for remote sensing applications

TL;DR: Results showed that the spectral features of the Atacama soil and the characteristics of this geographical zone, which is featured as the most hyper-arid and cloudless place in the world, make this area a potential target for surface reflectance characterization.

Numerically stable algorithm for discrete-ordinate-method radiative transfer in multiple scattering and emitting layered media.

TL;DR: An advanced, thoroughly documented, and quite general purpose discrete ordinate algorithm for time-independent transfer calculations in vertically inhomogeneous, nonisothermal, plane-parallel media for Atmospheric applications ranging from the UV to the radar region of the electromagnetic spectrum is summarized.

The hitran molecular database: editions of 1991 and 1992

TL;DR: The HITRAN molecular absorption database as mentioned in this paper contains line parameters for 31 species and their isotopomers that are significant for terrestrial atmospheric studies, including chlorofluorocarbons and other molecular species that are not amenable to line-by-line representation.

A description of the correlated k distribution method for modeling nongray gaseous absorption, thermal emission, and multiple scattering in vertically inhomogeneous atmospheres

TL;DR: A radiative transfer method for treating nongray gaseous absorption and thermal emission in vertically inhomogeneous multiple scattering atmospheres is described in this paper, where probability density distributions of absorption coefficient strength are derived from line-by-line calculations to construct line-By-line and band model based k distributions.
