Hierarchically porous polymer coatings for highly efficient passive daytime radiative cooling

TL;DR: A simple, inexpensive, and scalable phase inversion–based method for fabricating hierarchically porous poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropene) [P(VdF-HFP)HP] coatings with excellent PDRC capability, which equals or surpasses those of state-of-the-art PDRC designs, and the technique offers a paint-like simplicity.

A critical analysis of the α, β and γ phases in poly(vinylidene fluoride) using FTIR

TL;DR: In this article, a universal phase identification procedure using only the Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) results is proposed and validated, which can differentiate the three phases by checking the bands around 763 and/or 614, 1275, and 1234 cm−1 for the α, β and γ phases, respectively.

Determination of the α, β, and γ crystalline phases of poly(vinylidene fluoride) films prepared at different conditions

TL;DR: In this paper, the three crystalline phases of poly(vinylidene fluoride), α, β, and γ, have been obtained under distinct crystallization conditions, and the presence of the three phases in each sample were confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), wide-angle X-ray scattering (WAXD), polarized light optical microscopy (PLOM), and scanning electron microscopy(SEM).

Electric‐field‐induced phase changes in poly(vinylidene fluoride)

TL;DR: The antipolar crystal form of poly(vinylidene fluoride) can be made piezoelectric and pyroelecric by the temporary application of electric fields in excess of 1 MV/cm at room temperature as discussed by the authors.
