Multiphase induction motor drives - : a technology status review

TLDR
A detailed overview of the state-of-the-art in multiphase variable-speed motor drives can be found in this article, where the authors provide a detailed survey of the control strategies for five-phase and asymmetrical six-phase induction motor drives, as well as the approaches to the design of fault tolerant strategies for post-fault drive operation.
Abstract
The area of multiphase variable-speed motor drives in general and multiphase induction motor drives in particular has experienced a substantial growth since the beginning of this century. Research has been conducted worldwide and numerous interesting developments have been reported in the literature. An attempt is made to provide a detailed overview of the current state-of-the-art in this area. The elaborated aspects include advantages of multiphase induction machines, modelling of multiphase induction machines, basic vector control and direct torque control schemes and PWM control of multiphase voltage source inverters. The authors also provide a detailed survey of the control strategies for five-phase and asymmetrical six-phase induction motor drives, as well as an overview of the approaches to the design of fault tolerant strategies for post-fault drive operation, and a discussion of multiphase multi-motor drives with single inverter supply. Experimental results, collected from various multiphase induction motor drive laboratory rigs, are also included to facilitate the understanding of the drive operation.

Electrical Motor Drivelines in Commercial All-Electric Vehicles: A Review

TL;DR: It is illustrated that comparisons between the different motors are difficult by the large number of parameters and the lack of a recommended test scheme, so it is proposed that a standardized drive cycle be used to test and compare motors.

Space vector PWM control of dual three phase induction machine using vector space decomposition

TL;DR: In this paper, a vector space decomposition control of voltage source inverter fed dual three-phase induction machines is presented, where the analytical modeling and control of the machine are accomplished in three two-dimensional orthogonal subspaces and the dynamics of the electromechanical energy conversion related and the nonelectromechanical ECC related machine variables are thereby totally decoupled.

Disturbance free operation of a multiphase current regulated motor drive with an opened phase

Jen-Ren Fu, +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, an improved induction motor control strategy is proposed incorporating a multiphase machine which allows for continuous, disturbance free operation of the drive even with complete loss of one (or more) legs of the inverter or motor phase.
