Performance enhancement of Willshaw type networks through the use of limit cycles

G.A. Kohring
- 01 Nov 1990 -
TL;DR: It is suggested that random patterns can be stored in Willshaw type models by transforming them into a set of sparsely coded patterns and retrieving this set as a limit cycle, and the number of steps needed to recall a pattern will be a function of the amount of information the pattern contains.

Analysis of Oscillator Neural Networks for Sparsely Coded Phase Patterns

TL;DR: In this paper, a simple extended model of oscillator neural networks capable of storing sparsely coded phase patterns, in which information is encoded both in the mean firing rate and in the timing of spikes.

Additional tests of Amit's attractor neural networks

TL;DR: The importance of temporal coding and timing requirements in developing biologically plausible attractor networks is mentioned and the apparent coding sparseness of Amit's model is used to make predictions about codingSparseness in Miyashita's network.

Fully Parallel Digit a1 Implement at ion of Connectionist Associative Memory

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a fully parallel binary weight pattern associator circuit, which can be implemented on a lcm' CMOS VLSI chip capable of operating at 484 billion interconnections per second.

Adaptive thresholds for layered neural networks with synaptic noise

TL;DR: In this paper, a macroscopic adaptive threshold for the retrieval dynamics of layered feed-forward neural network models with synaptic noise is proposed, where the threshold is chosen appropriately as a function of the cross-talk noise and of the activity of the stored patterns, adapting itself automatically in the course of the recall process, and an autonomous functioning of the network is guaranteed.

Theory of Optical Information Storage in Solids

TL;DR: The theory of three-dimensional optical storage lends support to Beurle’s proposed mechanism of information storage in the brain, and makes three- dimensional storage very suitable for associative memories.

Holographic Model of Temporal Recall

TL;DR: It is shown that there is at least one other mathematical model, which is considered to be a closer analogue of holography, because it operates with triple products of the temporal function to be recognized or recalled.

Improved holographic model of temporal recall.

TL;DR: The modified static system described here is an alternative to Longuet-Higgins' model and takes account of the weaknesses of the nervous system as well as of its powers to imitate human memory with models.

The Classification of Modifiable Synapses and Their Use In Models For Conditioning

TL;DR: It is argued that if the conditioning and memory mechanisms of the nervous system store information by means of modifiable synapses, some of these must be of class B or C, and if the models are to be given the property of extinction, classical conditioning requires modifiablesynapses of classes A and B or of class C.
