Inference via sparse coding in a hierarchical vision model

- 25 Feb 2022 -
TL;DR: Sparse coding has been incorporated in models of the visual cortex for its computational advantages and connection to biology as mentioned in this paper . But how the level of sparsity contributes to performance on visual tasks is not well understood.

An associative memory for auditory recall

TL;DR: A model of auditory temporal recall based on correlographic recording and Interrogation by convolution is presented, which produces variable-length and cyclic sound-segment recall from fragmentary cues.

Mechanisms of memory storage and retrieval in hippocampal area CA3

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors used intracellular membrane potential recordings from CA3 neurons and optogenetic manipulations in behaving mice to find that place field activity is produced by a symmetric form of Behavioral Timescale Synaptic Plasticity (BTSP) at recurrent synaptic connections among CA3 principal neurons but not at synapses from the dentate gyrus (DG).

Analogy retrieval and processing with distributed v ector representations

New Zealand
TL;DR: Holographic Reduced Representations support a number of opera tions that could be very useful in psychological models of human analogy processing: fast estimatio n of superficial and structural similarity via a vector dot-product; chunking of vector representations; and finding corresponding objects in two structures.

Brain-Inspired Remote Sensing Interpretation: A Comprehensive Survey

TL;DR: In this paper , the essential properties of brain cognise learning and the recent advance of remote sensing interpretation are summarized and analyzed, and the top ten open problems and the future direction of brain-inspired interpretation are discussed.

Theory of Optical Information Storage in Solids

TL;DR: The theory of three-dimensional optical storage lends support to Beurle’s proposed mechanism of information storage in the brain, and makes three- dimensional storage very suitable for associative memories.

Holographic Model of Temporal Recall

TL;DR: It is shown that there is at least one other mathematical model, which is considered to be a closer analogue of holography, because it operates with triple products of the temporal function to be recognized or recalled.

Improved holographic model of temporal recall.

TL;DR: The modified static system described here is an alternative to Longuet-Higgins' model and takes account of the weaknesses of the nervous system as well as of its powers to imitate human memory with models.

The Classification of Modifiable Synapses and Their Use In Models For Conditioning

TL;DR: It is argued that if the conditioning and memory mechanisms of the nervous system store information by means of modifiable synapses, some of these must be of class B or C, and if the models are to be given the property of extinction, classical conditioning requires modifiablesynapses of classes A and B or of class C.
