Sum rules and scaling in nonlinear optics
TL;DR: In this article, an analysis using sum rules and scaling unifies our understanding of the nonlinear-optical response of a broad class of quantum systems through the scale-invariant intrinsic nonlinearities.
Journal ArticleDOI
Organized Chromophoric Assemblies for Nonlinear Optical Materials: Towards (Sub)wavelength Scale Architectures
TL;DR: In this review, the varied approaches to micro-/nanosized NLO materials based on building blocks of bio- and biomimetic molecules, as well as synthetic D-π-A chromophores, have been categorized as supramolecular self-assemblies, molecular scaffolds, and external force directed assemblies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Electron Transport and Nonlinear Optical Properties of Substituted Aryldimesityl Boranes: A DFT Study
TL;DR: The results show that the Hammett function and geometrical parameters correlates well with the reorganization energies and hyperpolarizability for the series of aryldimesityl borane derivatives studied in this work.

Optical Kerr phase shift in a nanostructured nickel-doped zinc oxide thin solid film.
Carlos Torres-Torres,B. Can-Uc,Raúl Rangel-Rojo,Luis Castañeda,R. Torres-Martínez,C.I. García-Gil,A. V. Khomenko +6 more
TL;DR: The optical Kerr effect exhibited by a nickel doped zinc oxide thin solid film was explored with femto- and pico-second pulses using the z-scan method and the nanostructured morphology of the resulting film was found to be dominated by self-defocusing.

Manipulating Magneto-Optic Properties of a Chiral Polymer by Doping with Stable Organic Biradicals
Chang Keun Lim,Min Ju Cho,Ajay Singh,Qi Li,Won Jin Kim,Hongsub Jee,Kathlyn L. Fillman,Stephanie H. Carpenter,Michael L. Neidig,Alexander Baev,Mark T. Swihart,Paras N. Prasad +11 more
TL;DR: The combined experimental and theoretical studies reveal that the manipulation of magnetic coupling in this new class of magneto-optic materials offers an opportunity to tailor the magnitude, sign, and spectral dispersion of the Verdet constant over a broad range of wavelengths, from the UV to the near-IR.

A Chiral Route to Negative Refraction
TL;DR: The introduction of a single chiral resonance leads to negative refraction of one polarization, resulting in improved and simplified designs of negatively refracting materials and opening previously unknown avenues of investigation in this fast-growing subject.
