Separation of Iron and Calcium from a BSSF Steelmaking Slag Through Acid Leaching

TL;DR: In this article , the BSSF steelmaking slag generated in a Brazilian steelwork was explored through acid leaching for an industrial sample, with the objective of increasing its iron content, or producing Fe 2 O 3 and CaO by selective precipitation from cations in aqueous solution.
Journal ArticleDOI

Numerical Studies of Heat Transfer Parameters during Injection Feeding of Powders into the Rail Steel Melt in Ladle-Furnace

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors analyzed the characteristics of influence of a directed heat flow through the tuyere conditional separation wall from metal to two-phase gas-powder flow under purging conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nature of Dust and Smoke Generation at Gas-Oxygen Blowing in a Converter Bath

TL;DR: In this paper, the main causes of metal waste are determined and the influence of the main parameters of the process on the loss of metal at the dust discharge and evaporation of iron in the reaction zone are studied.

Products of steel slags an opportunity to save natural resources.

H. Motz, +1 more
- 01 Jun 2001 -
TL;DR: Not only products of steel slags but also products of blast furnace slags have been eliminated from the European Waste Catalogue and the European Shipment of Waste Regulation of the European Community, as well as from the lists of OECD for transfrontier movements by the decision of the OECD-Council from 21 September, 1995.

Electrolysis of Molten Iron Oxide with an Iridium Anode: The Role of Electrolyte Basicity

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated the stability of iridium loss in an acidic melt with high silica content and a basic melt with low calcia content, and found that the rate of loss in the acidic melt was much less than that in the basic melt.

Characterization and land application of red gypsum: a waste product from the titanium dioxide industry

TL;DR: In this article, a waste product from the titanium dioxide industry was analysed for its composition because of its potential use as a soil amendment in Malaysia and the results showed that red gypsum crystals are present as tabular crystals of radiating elongated crystals in a matrix of calcite and iron oxides, and the X-ray diffractogram (XRD) pattern of the iron concentrates showed the presence of goethite and hematite.
