Nutrient partitioning and stoichiometry in soybean: A synthesis-analysis

TLDR
The main outcomes from this research were: the yield-to-uptake relation for N was primarily explained by NHI; the algebraic model proposed by Sinclair (1998), that includes each specific-organ %nutrient explained consistently nutrient (N, P or K) HI as a function of HI with different trend, and plant nutrient ratios were primarily governed by vegetative %nutrients (stover fraction).

New Insights into Soybean Biological Nitrogen Fixation

TL;DR: The main outcomes of this review were that as NDFA increased, seed production per N₂ fixation decreased, and N-gap increased faster when NDFA values were above 80% and after plant N content was above 370 kg N ha–¹ suggesting that the crop needs additional N for coping yield potential.

Is soybean yield limited by nitrogen supply

TL;DR: In this article, the authors developed a novel protocol to ensure an ample N supply during the entire crop season (full-N treatment), which was applied to field-grown irrigated soybean in Balcarce (Argentina) and Nebraska (USA), where measured full-N seed yields were ±15% of their simulated yield in 92% of the cases.

Interplay between nitrogen fertilizer and biological nitrogen fixation in soybean: implications on seed yield and biomass allocation.

TL;DR: The cost of BNF was met by a relative change in dry matter allocation against the energetically rich seed, and in favor of energetic cheaper vegetative tissue, suggesting the decline in seed yield with increasing BNF.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nutritional and environmental effects on biological nitrogen fixation in soybean: A meta-analysis

TL;DR: An initial critical stage for BNF is shown that is common to most environmental factors negatively affecting BNF, suggesting that common strategies might exist to increase BNF that are independent of the specific identity of the stressor.

Nitrogen utilization efficiency in wheat: A global perspective

TL;DR: In this paper, a synthesis-analysis using published data to provide a global perspective of nitrogen utilization efficiency (NUtE) trends in wheat by benchmarking against yield limited by NupMAT, and assessing factors contributing to the variation in NUtE.

Fitting models to biological data using linear and nonlinear regression : a practical guide to curve fitting

TL;DR: FITTING data with non-linear regression models as mentioned in this paper has been shown to work well with linear regression models, but not with a non-linear regression model, in the case of the CURVE.
