TLDR
Ion Chromatographie determination of S(IV) is described with special reference to the determination of SO 2 (g) and/or aerosol S (IV) along with chloride, nitrate and sulfate in particulate matter as mentioned in this paper.

Quantification of CaCO3–CaSO3·0.5H2O–CaSO4·2H2O mixtures by FTIR analysis and its ANN model

TL;DR: In this paper, a new quantitative analysis method for mixtures of calcium carbonate (CaCO 3 ), calcium sulphite hemihydrate (CaSO 3 ·1/2H 2 O) and gypsum ( CaSO 4 ·2H2O 2 ) by FTIR spectroscopy is developed.

Sampling and Analysis

TL;DR: In this article, the authors discuss sampling and analysis of trace atmospheric data, and the choice of an appropriate calibration technique is affected by the analytical method, potential interferences in the sample matrix, the number of samples to be analyzed, the degree of accuracy necessary for the data's intended use, and relative magnitude of the error contributed by the measurement process compared to combined errors from sampling, sample preparation, and data reduction.

Measurements of S(IV) and organic anions in Minnesota rain

TL;DR: In 167 fractions from 84 rain events collected at two sites in Minnesota during the summer of 1982, S(IV) accounted 1.12% of the measured anions and thus usually contributed very little of the free acidity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sulphite quantification on damaged stones and mortars

TL;DR: In this paper, an analytical procedure was developed for the simultaneous identification and quantification of the sulphite and main anions found in degradation patinas on historic buildings and monuments, as well as on stones and mortars exposed in simulation chamber and field tests.

Contribution of hydroxymethanesulfonate (HMS) to severe winter haze in the North China Plain

TL;DR: In this paper, a novel combination of single-particle mass spectrometry and an optimized ion chromatography method was used to show that hydroxymethanesulfonate (HMS), formed by the reaction between formaldehyde (HCHO) and dissolved SO2 inaerosol water, is ubiquitous in Beijing during winter.

Determination of atmospheric sulfur dioxide without tetrachloromercurate(II) and the mechanism of the Schiff reaction

TL;DR: In this paper, an ion chromatographic procedure to determine hydroxymethanesulfonate and sulfate in the same sample is also described, which is comparable to the West-Gaeke method in absorption and recovery efficiency, sensitivity and precision.

Artifact Formation of Sulfate, Nitrate, and Hydrogen Ion on Backup Filters: Allegheny Mountain Experiment

TL;DR: Artifact sulfate formation in ambient conditions on filters of several types was evaluated by comparison between upstream and downstream tandem filters and also by comparison among filters operated in parallel as mentioned in this paper, showing that the more alkaline filters converted more than 10% of the SO2 to which they were exposed.
