TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of latent heat release by deep cumulus convection in a conditionally unstable atmosphere is investigated and a method devised to include this effect directly in the equations for large scale flow is then applied to the hurricane formation problem by incorporating it into timedependent, circular symmetric dynamic hurricane models, either in gradient-wind balance or unbalanced.

A numerical experiment on the development of a tropical cyclone

TL;DR: In this article, a model of a tropical cyclone is constructed which is based upon conservation of momentum, mass, water vapor and heat in the hydrostatic system, and the horizontal and vertical eddy exchange processes for momentum, moisture and heat are included in the equations in order to incorporate the planetary frictional (Ekman) layer into the model.
