Origin of life: The RNA world

TL;DR: L'auteur postule un systeme, auto-replicatif a l'origine uniquement compose de molecules d'ARN.

HITS-CLIP yields genome-wide insights into brain alternative RNA processing

TL;DR: A genome-wide means of mapping protein–RNA binding sites in vivo, by high-throughput sequencing of RNA isolated by crosslinking immunoprecipitation (HITS-CLIP), which revealed a large number of Nova–RNA interactions in 3′ untranslated regions, leading to the discovery that Nova regulates alternative polyadenylation in the brain.

RNA-Catalyzed RNA Polymerization: Accurate and General RNA-Templated Primer Extension

TL;DR: An RNA molecule is described that catalyzes the type of polymerization needed for RNA replication, which uses nucleoside triphosphates and the coding information of an RNA template to extend an RNA primer by the successive addition of up to 14 nucleotides.

Splicing of Messenger RNA Precursors

TL;DR: A general mechanism for the splicing of nuclear mRNA precursors in eukaryotic cells has been widely accepted as discussed by the authors, which generates lariat RNAs possessing a branch site, seems related to the RNA-catalyzed reactions of self-splicing introns.
Journal ArticleDOI

RNA evolution and the origins of life

TL;DR: It is doubtful that life began with RNA, but consideration of what came before RNA must take into account relevant information from geochemistry, prebiotic chemistry and nucleic acid biochemistry.
