Operculina turpethum attenuates N-nitrosodimethylamine induced toxic liver injury and clastogenicity in rats

TL;DR: The results suggest that OTE has hepatoprotective and anti-clastogenic effects against NDMA-induced hepatic fibrosis and therefore OTE may be used as a hepatoprotsective agent against various liver diseases including toxic liver injury.

In vitro screening of methanol plant extracts for their antibacterial activity

TL;DR: It is clear from the results of the present studies that the plant extracts have great potential as antimicrobial compounds against bacteria, however, there is a need of further research to isolate the active ingredients for further pharmacological evaluation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Resin glycosides from the aerial parts of Operculina turpethum.

TL;DR: These compounds represent the first examples of resin glycosides with a monohydroxylated 12-hydroxy fatty acid as an aglycone, and one compound is the first described resin Glycoside having a hydroxylation C(17) fatty acidas its agly cone.
Journal ArticleDOI

Operculina turpethum (Linn.) Silva Manso as a Medicinal Plant Species: A Review on Bioactive Components and Pharmacological Properties.

Shweta Gupta, +1 more
TL;DR: From the aerial parts of OT, four new dammarane-type saponins that are operculinosides A–D were isolated that showed particular hepatoprotective activities.
Journal ArticleDOI

Studies on antidiarrhoeal, antispasmodic and bronchodilator activities of Operculina turpethum Linn

TL;DR: The results suggest that the crude extract of O. turpethum possesses antidiarrhoeal, antispasmodic and bronchodilator activities, mediated possibly through the presence of Ca++ antagonist like constituent(s), though additional mechanism(s) cannot be ruled out.
