Abstract
This paper presents pulses of finite duration for use in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) using offset QAM modulation. In such a system the pulses will overlap in both frequency and time without intersymbol or interchannel interference. The pulses are generated by an optimization procedure which minimizes the out-of-band energy under the constraints of zero intersymbol and interchannel interference. Low out-of-band energy is important to achieve high bandwidth efficiency, especially when the number of channels is small. The optimization procedure leads to an integral equation which is solved by expanding the pulse in truncated prolate spheroidal wave functions. Examples of optimized pulses and their spectrum are presented for lengths of 2 and 4 symbol intervals.

Optimization of the OFDM prototype waveform for highly time and frequency dispersive channels through a maximization of the SIR

TL;DR: In this paper, an optimization of the OFDM system waveform is carried as a linear combination of several of the most localized Hermite functions, done by maximizing the signal-to-interference ratio.

FBMC Design and Implementation

TL;DR: In this paper, effective modulation-based uniform filterbank structures are used, and the designs are defined by the low-pass prototype filter, and two alternative design approaches are considered: the first approach starts from continuous-time formulation of the prototype filter responses, which are then discretized.

Mechanism for avoiding triggering silent radio squelch circuits

TL;DR: In this paper, a smart sub-channel hopping control mechanism executes one or more subchannel selection discriminators to enable the communications controller of a spectral reuse transceiver to delineate on which of a plurality sub-channels the transceiver may transmit, so as to substantially reduce the likelihood of triggering squelch circuits of silent radios of primary (licensed) channel users.

Advanced mathematical models for the design and optimization of low-interference wireless multicarrier systems

TL;DR: This work considers the application of frame theory and related mathematical models to pulse-shaping MC systems transmitting over doubly dispersive fading channels and proposes pulse optimization procedures that minimize interference by exploiting the design freedom existing for redundant MC systems.

Inter carrier interference and signal to interference ratio of various pulse shaping functions used in ofdm system with carrier frequency offset

TL;DR: Detailed performance comparison of various pulse shaping functions used in OFDM System with Carrier Frequency Offset show that the performance improvement over conventional pulse shapes, are significant for reducing average intercarrier-interference (ICI) power and increased ratio of average signal power to average ICI power (SIR).

Performance of an Efficient Parallel Data Transmission System

TL;DR: A parallel quadrature AM data transmission system with a number of overlapping channels, each carrying a signaling rateb, spacedb/2apart in frequency appears to be a promising technique for achieving good performance at high information rates over bandlimited dispersive transmission media.
