TLDR
In this paper, a special opto-electronic cross-correlator with a silicon avalanche photodiode is presented, which can be used in displacement and distance measurement, robotics, time dispersion analysis in optical fibres, transient absorption spectroscopy, fluorescence decay measurement, lifetime-selective fluorescence detection, and in fluorescence signal suppression in Raman spectroscope.

Lifetime‐selective fluorescence imaging using an rf phase‐sensitive camera

TL;DR: In this paper, a sinusoidally modulated image intensifier that is operated as a radio-frequency phase-sensitive camera, synchronized to a mode-locked and cavity dumped picosecond dye laser, was used to create two-dimensional fluorescence lifetime images.

Frequency-Domain Lifetime Measurements

TL;DR: In this article, the authors described the theory and instrumentation for measuring fluorescence intensity decays using time-domain measurements, and then they considered the alternative method called frequency-domain (FD) fluorometry.

Detection of bacteria in blood culture bottles by time-resolved light scattering and absorption measurement

TL;DR: In this article, a system for detecting bacteria in samples using time-resolved light scattering and absorption measurement is described, where a plurality of samples may be tested by providing a modulated excitation signal which is introduced into each sample and collected at a point disposed across each sample.

Fluorescence lifetime-based biosensing of zinc: Origin of the broad dynamic range.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the apo-carbonic anhydrase/dansylamide indicator system is very well suited for lifetime-based sensing, with a subnanomolar detection limit and greater than 1000-fold dynamic range.

4‐GHz internal MCP‐photomultiplier cross correlation

TL;DR: In this article, a sinusoidal and pulsed internal cross correlation within a Hamamatsu model R2024U gatable microchannel-plate photomultiplier (MCP-PMT) was performed by biasing and modulating the gating mesh which is located 0.2 mm behind the photocathode.

Measurements of Subnanosecond Fluorescence Lifetimes with a Cross-Correlation Phase Fluorometer

TL;DR: In this article, the authors considered a single fluorescent species as a detector in which the response to an infinitely narrow pulse of light decays in time, t, according to the exponential law I ( t ) = I(0) x exp (kt).

TL;DR: A detailed description of the construction and performance of a variable frequency cross-correlation phase fluorometer is reported and some application to the measurement of multiexponential decays is illustrated.

Construction and performance of a variable-frequency phase-modulation fluorometer.

TL;DR: Frequency-domain fluorometers appear to be particularly useful for determination of complex decays of fluorescence anisotropy, and the relative simplicity of the equipment, the accuracy of the measurements and the lack of significant systematic errors indicate that frequency- domain fluorometry will be widely useful in chemical and biochemical research.
