Students' self-reports of help-seeking: The impact of psychological problems, stress, and demographic variables on utilization of formal and informal support

TL;DR: This article found that three patterns of psychological problems emerged: internalized distress, alcohol abuse, and dysfunctional eating among students at a private, midsize, midwestern university, and found that female students tended to talk more frequently than males when they had problems, while both genders showed the same preferences for help sources.
